FAZE is a non-profit organization composed of Zachary citizens who share an interest in the four community schools and want to be able to assist these schools with additional funding that is not available through state and federal sources.
FAZE was founded in the summer of 1992 through the efforts of Dr. Lynn Buzhardt and Laura Steen, members of the Zachary Chamber of Commerce as well as the City of Zachary and the four area principals.
FAZE is endorsed by the City of Zachary and its officials and all area principals.
FAZE receives its largest funding from an annual summer mailing to all Zachary citizens. This time of year was established so as not to conflict with school fundraisers that takes place during the school year. Funds are also accepted throughout the year from other sources.
FAZE also receives funds from businesses and community organizations such as the Bank of Zachary, Zachary Printing, Exxon, Zachary Lions Club, Zachary Rotary Club, Entergy and Georgia Pacific.
FAZE distributes these funds as quickly as possible to Zachary Elementary School, Northwestern Elementary School, Copper Mill Elementary School, Northwestern Middle School and Zachary High School proportionally based on student population.
FAZE requires that all funds be used for educational needs only as approved by the FAZE Appropriations Committee.
FAZE covers all overhead expenses by asking its board to contribute to an operating expense account. This assures that every dollar in community contributions goes to the schools.
FAZE funds have purchased computers, software, encyclopedias, textbooks, curriculum material, TV’s, expenses for professional workshops for teachers, a professional play performance, workbooks and more.
