JROTC Academic Team advances in in Challenge

The Zachary High School JROTC Academic Team has qualified for advancement to level II of The JROTC National Academic Challenge Competition. The team members are: Ashton Gauff, Karlie Haggard, Alexis Dawson, Felecia Dunford and Rachel White.

Only 22 teams out of 65 teams that competed in Louisiana advanced. This is the first year the Zachary Team has qualified.

Each year The College Options Foundation sponsors a nationally recognized JROTC Academic Challenge created exclusively for Army, Navy, and Air Force JROTC Cadets. The questions range from general core subjects, as one would expect to see on the ACT and SAT, to current events. There are three levels. Teams have to qualify through demonstrated performance on an online test supervised by their JROTC instructor to advance to the next level. Advancement to the third and final level includes an all expenses paid trip to Washington, DC. In addition there will be up to $50,000 in scholarships and prizes presented to the winners of the national level competition.
