ZACHARY COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES

11-19-2024 Board Meeting

The Zachary Community School Board Meeting was held on November 19, 2024 at 7:00 pm at 3755 Church Street, Zachary, Louisiana, 70791.

The Invocation was led by Dr. London.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mr. Talbot.

Roll Call: Dr. Lathon, Dr. Young, Mr. Talbot, Mr. Hughes, Mr. Mackie, Mr. Gaines, Dr. London, Mr. Dayton – TELECONFERENCE CALL – VOTE WILL NOT BE COUNTED   1 ABSNET – MRS. FREEMAN

SUPERINTENDENT UPDATE

Mr. Necaise gave the Superintendent’s Update and informed the Board of upcoming dates for district functions.

PRESENTATION FOR GREEN SCHOOLS

Mr. Jordan gave the board an update on putting LED Lights in schools.

GIS PRESENTATION BY FRAN HARVEY

Ms. Fran Harvey talked about the benefits of the GIS Program in the schools.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Dr. Young moved to approve the minutes for October 1, 2024 Resources Committee Meeting, Work Session and Board Meeting, and October 29, 2024 Committee of the Whole Academic Meeting.  Mr. Mackie seconded the motion.

DR. YOUNG, DR. LATHON AND DR. LONDON TO ATTEND THE COSSBA NATIONAL CONFERENCE – MARCH 20-23, 2025 IN ATLANTA, GEORGIA

Mr. Mackie moved to approve Dr. Young, Dr. Lathon, Dr. London to attend the COSSBA Nation Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, on March 20 – 23, 2025 in Atlanta, Georgia.  Mr. Hughes seconded the motion.

Mr. Hughes moved to approve the following policies:  File: BCBB  Notification of School Board Meetings, File: BCBJ – Broadcasting and Taping of School Board Meetings, File: CBD – Employment of Superintendent, File: GAK – Personnel Records, File GAMK – Use of Pronouns and Given Names, File: GBC – Recruitment, File: IDBA – Sex Education, File: IDDF – Education of Students with Exceptionalities, File: JGC – Student Health Services.

Mr. Mackie seconded the motion.

ARCHITECT CONTRACT FOR SCHOOL DISTRICT

 Dr. London moved to approve the Fusion’s contract for the Zachary Community School District.  Mr. Talbot seconded the motion.
