Every Student Succeeds Act

The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) was signed into law on December 10, 2015. Zachary Community School System has aligned federal and state initiatives to support higher student achievement, stronger public schools, a better-prepared teacher workforce and the preparation of all students for success in college and careers.

Our Programs

Title I — Improving The Academic Achievement Of The Disadvantaged
Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act purpose is to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards.

Title II — Preparing, Training, and Recruiting High-Quality Teachers and Principals
The purpose of this part is to: (1) increase student academic achievement through strategies such as improving teacher and principal quality and increasing the number of highly qualified teachers in the classroom and highly qualified principals and assistant principals; and (2) hold local agencies and schools accountable for improvements in student academic achievement.
