Dear Zachary Community,
On July 14, 2023, I will retire as Superintendent of the Zachary Community School District. As I have informed the school board, the decision to retire is bittersweet. I love what I do and the people I work with daily; however, I have reached a point where I want to spend more time with my family, who have been extremely supportive and understanding of the demands of my career for all these years.
My retirement will culminate thirty-four years in Louisiana schools, with twenty of those years in the Zachary Community School District as Superintendent, Director of Operations, Supervisor of School and Home Relations, ZHS Principal, and ZHS Assistant Principal. I am so fortunate to have spent many years of my career serving the Zachary community and building relationships that I cherish.
In my eleven years as your Superintendent, I have led the Zachary Community School District in maximizing community resources, overcoming obstacles, and successfully putting plans in place for our students to be successful. Through hard work, dedication, and family and community support, we have remained a top-performing district in Louisiana. Our district’s continued success is evidence of how special our community is and how important its support has been and continues to be. This support, combined with the continued effort of our passionate employees, is the formula for the success of our students. I thank all of you for your unwavering commitment to student success!
I appreciate the support from former and current school board members who have upheld our mission, vision, and core values. I am confident that our school board will choose a fantastic superintendent with expertise and a drive to support the success of both students and staff. Running a school system is one of the most gratifying and challenging jobs. To carry on our mission, your future leader will need the support, assistance, and partnership you offered me.
Our theme this year, “One Community. One Team. One Vision” says it all. I am confident that with all stakeholders working together, we will continue to provide a Model of Excellence to Zachary’s students.
My time in Zachary has been the pinnacle of my professional career. I will always be grateful for the amazing and fulfilling experience of being the Zachary Community School District Superintendent.
Scott Devillier, Superintendent
