Welcome to the Zachary Community School District!

The Zachary Community School District’s number one priority is to provide a safe and welcoming learning and working environment for students and staff.  One of the most important responsibilities of an employer is ensuring employees are adequately trained. The required trainings below will help you to be more successful in your roles and help promote compliance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures. These trainings are designed to ensure that every employee has the knowledge and information to establish and maintain a positive, safe, and healthy school environment.   The following has been updated to align with Revisions to Required Trainings received from the Louisiana Department of Education.

ANNUAL TRAININGS

Cybersecurity Awareness

Any employee who accesses any computer or electronic accounts must complete this training.

Ethics Administration Program

All Zachary Community School District employees are bound by the Louisiana Code of Governmental Ethics. More information about the Code of Governmental Ethics can be found at the Louisiana Ethics Administration Program website. All Zachary Community School District employees are required to take one hour of training per calendar year on the Code of Governmental Ethics.

Mandated Reporter Annual Training

  • New employees will need to create an account. (If you have set up an account before this school year, you may continue using that account.)

  • Print a copy of your certificate and attach it to the annual checklist to return to your supervisor/principal.
  • Must be completed between June 1st and August 31st Annually.

Sexual Harassment

ONE TIME TRAINING

Note:  Some training must be completed once by all.  Once these have been completed, the educator must maintain a certificate documenting the training.
If this certificate cannot be provided, the educator must complete the training again.

TEAM TRAININGS

Athletic Training Requirements

  • Coaches, Athletic Trainers, and Other Identified Personnel (including volunteers) will be provided training information from Coach David Brewerton, Director of Athletics.
  • Sudden Cardiac Arrest Education Course

 

First Aid, CPR & AED (School Teams)

All designated staff are to maintain current CPR, AED, and first aid certifications as per the district’s training schedule.  More Information on these areas will be provided by Mrs. Aeneid Mason and/or your school nurse.

LITERACY TRAINING

Science of Reading training through the Louisiana Professional Learning Platform, Canopy is now available.

The course code for the Science of Reading training on Canopy is 8CBF0261.

 

This two-part course includes:

  • Part 1: Six modules covering The Science and Art of Teaching Reading, Science of Reading, Assessment, Oral Language, Phonological Awareness, and Phonics (Decoding, Encoding, and Word Study)
  • Part 2: Seven additional modules, to be released this winter
